Marita Cooper, Ph.D.

Marita Cooper is a postdoctoral research fellow with the Eating Disorders Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She received her PhD from Australian National University where her dissertation examined muscle dysmorphia and muscularity-oriented body change behaviours. Marita was an Eating Disorders Clinical Research Summer Fellow at Harvard University in 2017 and is an active committee member for both the Academy for Eating Disorders and the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders. Marita serves on the editorial board for the International Journal for Eating Disorders and Journal of Eating Disorders: Treatment and Prevention. Marita has recently presented research on both muscularity-oriented eating and exercise in eating disorders at conferences for both the Academy for Eating Disorders andhe Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders.

Danika Quesnel MSc, CSEP-CPT

Danika obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology / Human Kinetics with a speciality in Health Promotion and a certification in Personal Training for the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology. Following this, she completed her Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies between Health Sciences and Psychology at the University of British Columbia, in which her research focused on the role of exercise in the treatment of eating disorders. Since the completion of her Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies, Danika has gone on to complete a Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology at Western University. Danika’s research funding to date has totalled $200,000 resulting in numerous peer reviewed publications in the field of exercise and eating disorders, perfectionism, body image and problematic internet use. Danika has presented as guest speaker, as well as achieved international recognition for her contributions to the field of exercise and eating disorder. She is currently undertaking her Ph.D studies in Clinical Psychology at the University of Toronto in Canada.

Alanah Rilley (she/her) is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with an advanced scope in eating and weight concerns. Alanah is the Founder and Director of Autonomy In Movement (AIM), located in Brisbane, Australia. AIM provides inclusive exercise physiology for clients and continuing education for exercise clinicians. Alanah has a passion for assisting people to explore an autonomous, brave, and life-enhancing relationship with movement, and acknowledges the people she works with as being valued experts of their experience. Alanah has completed specialised training in both Maudlsey Family Based Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for eating disorders. She is an invited writer and presenter for Exercise and Sports Science Australia, The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Education in Nutrition, the Queensland Academy of Sport, and the Queensland University of Technology on the topics of safe movement and non-abstinence during recovery from an eating disorder, as well as size diversity and trauma-informed care in the movement setting. Finally, Alanah has presented at annual conferences for both the international Academy for Eating Disorders as well as the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders.
